Kron House
First of all, I'd like to thank everybody for the emails I received. I'm glad you were able to get something out of this blog. To be honest, I started this as a way to push me to go out and do more, to take more photos of the exciting things around Cabarrus County that some people might not be aware of and to share what's out there. But on to what this post is about:

Lightning Photography
I'm a huge lover of storms and anything storm related. So obviously, I love lightning! From a distance of course... No self barbeque here, thank you! The other night there was a pretty big storm passing through here in Concord, and the lightning was just spectacular. So, me being a lover of both photography and lightning, I just had to combine them both! It was a great experience, and I plan on doing it again very soon. I think it's probably been the most enjoyable form of photography I've tried yet!

Morrow Mountain in March
First People of Morrow Mountain |
One of my favorite places to visit nearby that a lot of people don't even know exists.. Morrow Mountain. It's only about 40 miles from Concord, in an area you'd never expect a mountain to be, but it's there! If you haven't been there, head on over to Google or whatever you use, and look it up. Or.. just keep reading ;)
A little history "right from Wikipedia": Morrow Mountain is one of the highest peaks in the ancient Uwharrie Mountains of central North Carolina. At one time they rose to nearly 20,000 feet (6,100 m) above sea level,
but erosion has gradually worn them down to little more than high hills.
Although the park contains several peaks, Morrow Mountain is a high
point at 936 feet (285 m). However, the mountain still rises some 400
feet (120 m) above the surrounding lower terrain, and offers superb
views of the surrounding countryside on a clear day. In addition to

Cabarrus Pets Society
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to volunteer my photography services to Cabarrus Pets Society, a great local animal shelter. These people are huge animal lovers and I couldn't think of anyone better to trust the care of these dogs to.
Bernard - Full of energy! Definitely a hassle to photograph lol |
While I was there, they seemed to be pretty busy. As it turns out, it was actually one of their slow days. Their kennels are usually packed on Saturdays, with everybody running around like crazy. All of the dogs are kept in foster homes during the week and brought in on Saturdays for their weekly Adoption Event, where they'll hopefully be paired up with a permanent home. Sadly, a lot of the full grown dogs don't get adopted, because everybody wants a puppy instead. So if you're looking for a dog and don't mind one that's already grown, pay these guys a visit. But they've got plenty of

North Cabarrus Park
I decided to take a trip to a nearby park today. I've actually been planning on making a visit out there for the past few days now. It's only about 2 miles from where I live, but I didn't find out about it until about a week ago. So, here's a little about my trip to North Cabarrus Park.
Boardwalk |
The plan was to get up early and get to the park to try to get some shots in the soft morning light. Well, that didn't happen. I rolled out of bed at about 7am and stuck my head outside. Just as quick as my head was out the door, I came to

Memory Lane Musuem
I visited the Memory Lane Museum located in Mooresville, NC today.
Overall, it was a great visit, very friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. They even have a friendly black lab to greet you at the door lol. First thing you'll notice when you walk in is a great little giftshop, there are all kinds of different interesting things in there to look at. But on to what I was there for, the museum.
Entrance fee to the museum for adults is $10 "at the time of this post", which is definitely worth it. There are a variety of older cars, go-karts, and other odds and ends in there as well. As someone who enjoys looking at old cars, I loved this place. As a photographer, I found that a lot of the exhibits are hard to take pictures of, due to just how much is actually in this musuem. I just couldn't quite get the angles I wanted a lot of times, but I'm not saying that as a bad thing. You definitely get your moneys worth in this place, there's just so much to see! Now on to what this blog is about, the photos.
Old vintage race car |
I chose a specific style for these shots; not quite vintage, not quite modern. A good balance in between that I felt complimented the exhibits. Memory Lane Museum has a lot of great things to look at, and I wanted to make sure that I did those old cars as much justice as I could. Just because I was limited in getting those full view car shots without background clutter, didn't mean that there weren't a whole lot of things to take photos of. My only regret is that
